Opening a 500pages PDF on Notability feels the same as opening a single page PDF, whereas on GN - big difference I had both GN and Notability but prefer notability more because of its smoothness (especially writing, no lag at all). if you’re gonna buy the ipad 10.2 then it should be no problem as the RAM is bigger. I think it is because of the less RAM that my ipad has. except when using affinity it did crash (app force close) but very rare. despite all the heavy apps that I had installed on this ipad (affinity designer, procreate, lumafusion, etc) I never experienced a lag/freeze. I’ve been using the ipad 6 gen for almost 1 1/2 year now. for taking to school, I wouldn't recommend going for the Mini or 12.9 inch Pros as the mini is too small (imo) to take notes on comfortably, and the 12.9 is too bulky to carry/ handle like a small notebook at school (imo). if you're not particularly looking for a brand new device or don't mind buying refurbished, maybe look around for a 10.5 inch iPad Pro or a 1st gen 11 inch Pro. if money isn't a concern, maybe step up to the new Air or Pro variants. I've used a 6th gen (practically the same device) and a 1st gen pencil for school for about 18 months now and had very few problems. best value & supports the 1st gen pencil. If you'd like a recommendation on which iPad to get, I'd go for the 7th gen (10.2-inch). the app is exactly the same for any iPad, it just differs on iPhones and on Mac the thing is, you'll want to chose an iPad that supports Apple Pencil (assuming you're looking to use a stylus with Notability - which isn't a requirement).

The latest build of Notability is compatible with iOS 11.0 or later and will therefore work with any iPad that can run iOS 11.0 or later.
